Today is June 12 and We Speak of a People's Revolution Long Protracted

Today is June 12 and we speak of a people's revolution long protracted.

The day before, the missus emailed me: Call us June 12, Monday, afternoon. We will all be around, the kids as well. Classes will be called off. We master teachers, of course, are required to go to some Barangay Silangan, wherever is that, to take part of the official ceremonies for the recollection of the declaration of the country's independence.

I emailed her back, tongue-in-cheek: Manumpa kayo sa watawat, ha!
