Ti Ilik a Filipinas

(This is my translation, on the spot, of the "Bayan". The Ilokano version will be sung as part of the presentation of the joint GUMIL Hawai'i and Annak ti Kailokuan iti Amerika Choir at the 2008 GUMIL Hawai'i Coronation and Cultural Festival to be held at the Pacific Beach Hotel on Waikiki, February 2, 2008. At all GUMIL Hawai'i functions, we have decided to sing the nationalist songs, including the National Anthem, NOT in Tagalog, but in Ilokano as our way of preserving and promoting the Ilokano language in the diaspora.)

Ti ilik a Filipinas
Daga't balitok ken pusaksak
Panagayat adda iti palad
Nangidaton pintas, raniag
Ket iti emma ken sudina
Ganggannaet nakayawan
Pagiliak tinagikua
'ti dusa a nasagmak

Maya man mailiw nga agtayab
Itangkalmo ket agleddaang
Ili ngaruden napusuksak
Di agdarepdep makawayas?

Filipinas nga ipatpateg
Umok ti lulua ken rigrigat
Ti arapaap
Masirmata a nawaya.
