These lessons on the Ilokano language are based on the contemporary ortography of this language.

This ortography has been developed by yours truly, Aurelio Solver Agcaoili of the Ilokano Language, Literature, and Culture Program of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii.

This ortography is grounded on my long years in the academe, in creative writing, in translation, in research work on the cultures of the Philippine, in my work as journalist and radio announcer, and in my experience as host and producer of a public television program.

These lessons concretize the theories I used in my writing of the four dictionaries on the Ilokano language: the Contemporary English-Ilokano Dictionary; the Kontemporaneo a Diksionario nga Ilokano-Ingles, Limitado nga Edision/Contemporary English-Ilokano Dictionary, Limited Edition; the Pinaababa a Kontemporaneo a Diksionario nga Ilokano-Ingles/Abridged English-Ilokano Dictionary; and the Contemporary English-Ilokano Dictionary, Student Edition/ Kontemporaneo a Diksionario nga Ilokano-Ingles, Edision a Pang-Estudiante.
